Who to Trust?

Hi all,

So I have installed Google Play Store on my MX4 and installed a few applications such as Facebook, messanger, wechat… Now the Play Store says these apps are up to date, but when I open Meizu’s App Centre it says there are updates for these applications…

Why is this? Does Meizu release patched versions of these applications which are supposed to be more stable on FlyMe? :) So far I haven’t had a problem with the Play Store versions of the apps stated above… (Touch Wood).

Umm… Even I get that I never cared to investigate :P
If the files are modified by Meizu or anyone else other than Facebook then they will fail to update the app. As the signature verification will fail…

Hmmm… It is strange indeed. Nevertheless, I will stick with the Play Store for keeping my applications up to date ;)

Yes, I noticed too. Is it like Meizu App Store get updates faster than Google Play Store from the application developers? It’s a little bit strange.

The Meizu AppCenter is quite trust worthy (I sometimes like it more than the Play Store).
You see these updates, because they are probably either from the US or specialised versions for the asian market.
However, it is not a problem to use them (except Facebook). I update my WhatsApp very often over the Meizu AppCenter, because the german Play Store gets the updates very late.

Thanks AOKP :) Very detailed answer!

It’s the same as when you download a updated app like gmail or google inbox etc from Androidpolice website or other websites. It will only update if the keys match.
Like AOKP said it’s likely a update that hasn’t made it to your country or device yet.

Not neccessarily. I updated FB app yesterday by the App centre, and it stopped working. Just an example.

This is why I am hesitant to update using App Centre, especially for apps such as Google Play Store, and Facebook…

Cant comment about why FB stopped working, but if your updating apps like from v1 to v2 they it will only update if the checksum matches.

After update it opened and stated that this version is no longer supported.

Normal. As said I only noticed issues with Facebook so far.

Looks like your connection to Meizufans was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
