Impossible to connect to Windows 8.1 x64

**Hi,
**

**I’d like to know if any of you had any success connection the MX4 to Windows x64 ?
**
**I just can’t install the drivers…
**
**I tried with adb, google drivers, nothing…
**
**The phone isn’t properly recognised, I can’t connect it in MTP or in CD mode.
**

What should I do ? My phone is pretty useless so far if I can’t even transfer music to it.

Edit: tried on MacBook, doesn’t work either…

You shouldn’t need adb drivers to just access the storage…

Does the device show up as unknown device in device manager when you connect it in mtp mode?

I use win 8.1 64bit Enterprise Edition.
My MX4 is recognized and is connecting without any problems in MTP.
Haven’t tried CD mode though,
but I think it will work just fine.

Try another cable,
Don’t use USB 3.0 hub,
use regular USB 2.0 instead.
Try different usb ports,
sometimes usb ports on the front of the case can cause issues.

Sent from my MX4 using Tapatalk

8.1 pro with no problems either.
Make sure you delete older android device drivers.
@gajche I only have USB 3 on my laptop. It works well with USB 3.0

Yes it does.

I tried front ports, back ports, USB 2, USB 3, different cables, 8.1 x64 and OSX, nothing works…

I’m going to try to install the stable firmware and see what happens, I guess…

@yaka,
The firmware is unlikely to make a difference… Seems like a driver issue.
1. Right click on the Unknown device - > And uninstall the driver - > restart.
Reconnect the device. And see if it successfully installs the drivers.

2. If that doesn’t work then install/update Windows Media Player

Yeah its not the phone.

Still doesn’t work…

I think I pretty much tried everything besides installing another version of windows (which I won’t do)

Any other suggestions ? :huh:

@yaka,
Ok this might be a longshot:
1. Go to Settings - >accessibility - > dev options - > turn on usb debug mode
2. Connect to PC
3. Right click on detected device - > update driver
4. Select ‘from my computer’ - > show compatible hardware
5. See if MTP driver is shown and then select it
6. Hope that works…

P. S. For Mac you need Android file transfer.

Thanks for the help.

I installed Android file transfer on the mac, didn’t help.
I just tried plugin it in another pc, windows 7 x64, same error (usb device not recognised).

I will try your last solution; then I guess the next step is returning it to the seller …

@yaka,
I’m not sure about Mac… I’ve never used one with phones…

I wonder if you had any other device drivers installed on both the Windows?
You can always use one of those apps which let you browse and transfer files over wifi… But if it is a genuine problem with USB connection and the device then I guess you should return. (Only way to confirm would be trying it on a near fresh windows install from someone you know cos MTP mode is pretty standard fro android devices…)

I did have Samsung drivers on both windows.

Tried Ubuntu, nothing either.

Just out of curiosity, I’ll try installing a new version of windows on my laptop because it’s pretty fucked up anyway, but despite what donwuan said, I’m 100% sure it’s the phone… The USB controller must be faulty…

It will have been a short experience with Meizu…

There seems to be LOTS of problems with that phone…

@yaka,

some users had the problem before and it showed up to be their PC’s fold.

And there are only a few problems with the phone. Because, how GreyGhost said it once, users with problems will post rather than users without. And if you look at the gigantic production numbers 10.000 faulty devices are peanuts.

Back to your question:
You tried another firmware?

Yes I tried another firmware (went from 4.1.7 to 4.0.4.2) and it’s the same problem.

And plugged it in 1 PC laptop, 1 PC desktop, and 1 MacBook, so please don’t tell me it’s a computer problem either :)

The phones don’t go through basic testing before being packed ?

You think it could be a firmware problem ?

Administrator

@yaka,

they should. And wow, than you seem to be an exception. :D

I am only waiting to see, if it works on the new installed laptop (or you tested it already?).

Looks like your connection to Meizufans was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
